I'm Doug McCubbins, a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, and I've been designing and constructing soft handmade leather purses and accessories since 1975. I personally make every item I sell, so you can be sure it's done correctly. My designs are simple and strong, the kind of leather purses you could find at craft shows in the 1970's. All of my bags are intended to be soft and unstructured with no stiffeners, and no synthetic materials (except the nylon zippers and thread, of course). Some have nylon fabric linings, but most are traditional, unlined purses with the softly sueded back of the leather itself serving to line the bag. I design the patterns, cut and sew the leather, and ship the bags directly from my workshop in Asheville, NC.
